Tree Trinkets Made from Twigs, Fabric, and Leftover Scraps

A special project for the season.

You know that little moment when a fallen branch catches your eye and suddenly your imagination kicks in? That’s exactly what happened with this project. I looked at a handful of ordinary twigs and saw potential.

What if those branches could become something more? Something tiny, beautiful, and meaningful. That question sparked this creative adventure – a mixed media project where wood slices meet paint, wire, and story.

This project is delightfully simple, satisfying, and completely customizable. It’s perfect for using up small scraps and leftover supplies, while giving you a reason to step outside and reconnect with nature.

What I Made: Tree Trinkets

I created mixed media β€œtrinkets” from small tree branch slices. These make wonderful:

  • Mini journaling tokens

  • Bookmarks or page charms

  • Pocket art gifts for friends

  • Eco-inspired embellishments

  • Necklace pendants or keychains

In my trinkets, I used fabrics and spices then sealed them with love and a tiny wire hanger.

There’s no right or wrong here. This is an invitation to play – whether you’re drawn to muted tones, bold colors and patterns, or meaningful phrases, each piece becomes its own tiny celebration of the season.

What Makes This So Inspiring

  • It starts with what you already have: twigs, wire, paper scraps, and spices.

  • You can make one in 10 minutes or spend an afternoon on a themed series.

  • It’s small-scale but creatively big. You’ll finish feeling inspired and refreshed.

  • You can turn them into gifts, ornaments, or tags and decorative embellishments for packages.

Try This Prompt:

After you make a trinket, try this:

Write a short phrase or word that captures what the season means to you right now. Add it to the back, tuck it into a journal pocket, or gift it to a friend who needs that reminder.

Pin it for later!
