Inside the Roben's Nest: A Peek at CIRCLE LID BOOKS
Tiny Circles, Big Joy: A New Mixed Media Project in The Roben’s Nest
There’s something irresistible about small-scale projects, especially the kind that invite play, experimentation, and a finished project in one sitting. That’s exactly what this July’s project inside of The Roben’s Nest is all about: miniature fold-out circle books that nestle right into decorated jar lids.
Yes, lids! From your kitchen junk drawer to your art table, they’re the perfect tiny container for creativity.
It’s the kind of project that feels like a deep breath: no pressure, just joy.
Why I Love This Project
It’s quick and satisfying
You can use up scraps and leftovers
It’s highly personal—no two are alike
The finished pieces are perfect for gifts, affirmations, or simply bringing beauty to a shelf or windowsill
Each little book is made from round pages that fold accordion-style and are bound together with scraps of fabric, washi tape, or thread. You can tuck in favorite words, doodles, stitched elements, or even tiny collages. The lids themselves become covers then are layered with fabric, painted papers, or textured bits and pieces.

Take a peek at these fun projects and see what the members are creating lower in this post.
Our members have been crafting their way through these mini masterpieces, and it’s been a joy to see so many unique interpretations. Some are soft and vintage, others bold and bright but all of them feel personal and full of heart.
There’s something magical about seeing a group take a shared prompt and turn it into something that’s uniquely theirs. That’s one of the many reasons I love creating inside this community.
