Handmade Scrappy Fabric Bowls

Handmade fabric bowls Perfect for gift giving

Last week I opened an email from my friend, Kristin Peterson that led me to a quick tutorial she shared on how to make these adorable fabric bowls. She is super creative and comes up with great ideas.

After watching her tutorial all I could think about was making some of my own fabric bowls.

I'm talking that obsessed kind of thinking.

I've since made 13 fabric bowls and counting. πŸ˜‚

If you haven't checked it out, you must. But be prepared as it is quite addicting.

Some things I learned:

1. Have your fabric pieces precut and in various sizes. This makes it so much easier when your fingers are sticky. Note: check out the shirts, skirts, scarves and linens at your local thrift stores for fabrics. See HERE for some ideas.
2. Don’t use cheap glue. I ran out and grabbed some from Dollar Tree to test it out. It was too watery and was hard to work with and took long to dry.
3. Mason jars make my most favorite shape, but it is so hard to remove the bowl. I had to wait until they were about 2/3 dry and push the fabric down and off the jar. I then popped it back up and shaped it out to dry the rest of the way.
4. Pay attention to areas that you might have missed but if you do, just add a scrappy bit after it’s dry.
5. Cartons work great and were the easiest to remove the fabric from but I did try vitamin bottles, shampoo bottles, body scrub jar and a yogurt tub. I pretty much rummaged through the pantry and my recycling bin for options. πŸ˜‚
