Small vs big journals

Do you prefer small or big journals and sketchbooks? I like both. Bigger journals give me lots of freedom to create but little journals help me focus and challenge me in a different way. They are also perfect for road trips or times when I am limited by my supplies and space.

When I want to work smaller but not too tiny, my Travelogue Drawing Book by Handbook•Journal Co. is the perfect choice.

I recently asked this in an Instagram post and here are the comments I received:

”There is just something about these smaller ones that I just love.”

”Totally depends on the season I’m in.”

”Depends on the mood, honestly. But usually I gravitate towards small!”

“Same I like both. I like the challenge of a big page and love the constraint of a smaller journal too.”

”I like smaller journals because I can finish them! Lol!!! I make bigger ones too that I give to friends.”

”I have to admit I like more of a medium lol. Not too large, not too small.”

”Generally I work in several journals and the size of the journal is one of the things that inspires me. I like variety.”

”I love big journals but smaller is quicker if I am short on time.”

”I tend to gravitate to smaller sized art journals but every now & then I get the urge to go big!”

”Small because it's cute & takes a small amount of time to be creative.”

”I like both, but I’m most often drawn to smaller journals. Maybe it’s because they’re just so darn cute!”
