With articles highlighting artists from Spain, USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Poland and Russia, this magazine covers art journaling, mixed media, photography, wearable arts and other forms of artistic expression from across the globe.
I was initially struck by the large format of the magazine and the colorful, thick, and glossy cover. Being a creative person, I notice paper and how it feels when I hold it in my hands and I like "holding" this magazine. I am also partial to its size. Once inside the quality continues with heavy pages and large scale photography allowing details to be easily seen. It is also a joy to find so much quality content with little advertising cluttering up its pages.
I was drawn to the article on Polish sisters/artists Amelia and Marta Krzeszowska. Amelia's intriquing painted faces and scratchy line art is a style that I find inspiring.
The article on the history of Mail Art was naturally a highlight as a fan and instructor of mail art techniques.
Lastly, I enjoyed looking at the studios of artists worldwide in Julia Dunnit's blog series WOYWW - What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It was fascinating seeing what different products were being used in the different mediums being represented.
Congratulations to Marit for following her dreams and producing this art-filled publication. It is a testament to her desire to create an informative and beautiful magazine that represents a nice mix of creative souls.
