The Documented Life Project - 10/31 (Week 45)...

The Documented Life Project

October 31, 2014 - Week 45 Challenge:  Add a tab

Visit the Art to the 5th blog for more inspiration.

I made tabs with a hand punch (shaped like a tab) and then attached to a variety of papers.  I layered them so they will lift up so I can write on them or attach ephemera or photos.  I stiched the whole stack at the top of my page with a sewing machine.

Blind dates can be very stressful so Sylvia's friend gently suggested that she may want to wax her eyebrows.

Toby ran through a quick mental risk assessment and decided he could, in fact, beat John at arm wrestling.

Fred was not self-conscious about his teeth because Maude assured him that she loved him for his winning personality.

Homer might be strappingly handsome and confident but still blushes when a pretty girl smiles at him.

Ingrid was suspicious when her friend told her, "It tastes just like chicken!"

Mimi would have preferred a turtle neck to that off the shoulder drape thing they made her wear in her senior picture.

Judy's hairdresser assured her that her new bangs did not resemble a dirty mop.

When Emily is in an especially good mood she breaks out the Bonne Bell Lip Smacker in Cheerful Cherry!

I grabbed a few leaves from the bushes in my front yard and painted them with acrylic paint.

Just RISE UP!

Hello!!

As a woman of faith, I strive to share joy and encouragement through my art and my blog.  Last year I was asked by Sarah Martin to share my creative journey, how it connects me with God and tips for making time for creativity. I agreed because I saw this as a way to reach the young women Sarah inspires with her Godly life.

A few months ago, Sarah was the spotlight artist featured on the Art to the 5th website.  She is also an amazing artist who sees her art as a part of her expression of who she is and her ministry.  I have great respect for Sarah's ministry and want to congratulate her on her new book called Just RISE UP

Have a  blessed day!

It is common to look at our faith as something that just “is”. It’s not strong, nor is it weak; it’s simply a part of us. But faith is something we desire to strengthen. It is a vital relationship with our Lord that should be nurtured, celebrated, and shouted from the rooftops as the most incredible gift we will ever receive.

Just RISE UP! is a call to do just that. This invigorating study motivates women to do life differently by making Jesus famous in all aspects of life. Many have the itch to make a difference with their lives but don’t know how. By living a life of praise, with a humble posture and a Kingdom perspective, women will step into their life purpose. With Just RISE UP! readers will evaluate their present stance before the Lord and become excited to RISE UP! and take their place in the Kingdom to make the name of Jesus renowned.

Features include:

  • Snippets of conversations with Sarah’s readers
  • Journaling prompts to help the reader dig deeper
  • Questions to facilitate dialogue

Meet Sarah:

Sarah Francis Martin is an wife, mom, friend, mentor, author and wannabe artist. Sarah has invigorates women to get up off the couch of complacency and live out their faith with every square inch of their lives. Reflected in her speaking and in the pages of her books, Sarah looks straight into women’s hearts with her real, raw and relevant approach. With a vision to spark passion for the fame of Jesus, Sarah desires that women in this generation will RISE UP! and do life differently as they step into their God-given purpose and place in God’s kingdom. When she is not writing or working on a teaching message, you can often find Sarah on date nights with her husband, rough housing with her young son or getting messy with craft paint. Read more from Sarah on the Live it Out Blog!

On My Art Table...

What is on your art table?

It was so nice this week to spend time creating.  My friend Susan was visiting from California so we set up shop in the dining room where we had a nice view of the water and lots of space to spread out.

Me and Susan!

I worked a little in my art journal.  I have been interested in exploring the human form so we'll see where that takes me!

I also spent some time working on a new class idea that involved lots of cool papers made with the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate.

New Mixed Media Stickers...

Hello!

I just added some new Art Pops™ Stickers to my Etsy shop!  This collection is called Sanibel Days and is reminiscent of lazy days on the beach.  I have plans to release the set of Art Pops™ Cards to coordinate but I ran into a few issues with the printer.  I hope things get resolved soon but in the meantime, I wanted to share the stickers.

Enjoy!

Have a  blessed day!

Face Practice - Week Two Plus One...

Here we go with week two where I made a cool discovery.  I found that I like using messy inked up scratch paper as the base for my drawing combined with waterolors and the Stabilo Marks All Pencil. I like trying to "find" the face in the ink and marks that are alreday on the paper.

Face Practice - Week One Plus One...

Hello!!

Drawing or painting faces is not easy but something I really want to develop.  I am drawn to the more abstract faces which is a good thing because I don't draw very well.  I was following along last month as artist Kristin Peterson cranked out some intriguing faces and it encouraged me to give it a go for a month. Here is the first week of faces plus one because the layout looks better with eight photos.  Ha! Ha!  A few of my friends decided to play along.  Join in on Instagram with #facepractice

Stamping with Stencils...

Hello!

I recently discovered that some stencils and masks make great stamps.  That's right! Here is a quick video tutorial showing how I used a few to make a gift tag.
