Things don't always work out as planned. Life certainly teaches us this! Among other mishaps so far this holiday season is that of our quest to find a Christmas tree. The first tree was a tall artificial tree that looked so beautiful in the store. When we got it home, however, it was too big for the living room. We moved furniture and tried the layout in many ways, but it just would not work! Okay, so we take that one back and decide on a live tree instead of an artificial one. After all, we can chunk it after and not store it in the attic, where it will end up dry rotting over time like our last one.
Enter, Lowe's Home Improvement Store and a rather lovely Frasier Fur. It is perfect and not too big. I especially like the tiny branches! We follow protocol and cut off a portion of the bottom and lug it home. Our old tree stand doesn't work very well and won't hold the tree up straight. Oh, well. I guess I can live with this! We water and I decorate. The next day I discover that the tree has not absorbed any of the water.
Fast forward eight days...you could say the tree is a lemon! It is obviously dying and I have a Christmas party in my home in four days. It won't make it that long and I'm afraid someone might knock it down anyway. I strip the tree and we head out to get a new one.
Enter, Lowe's Home Improvement Store and a beautiful Frasier Fur. We get a new tree at a discount and a new tree stand that is on sale as well. Our tree looks lovelier than the last one, is standing up straight and has been drinking a ton of water. I do believe it will make it even until Christmas! Count it all joy!

Through the Viewfinder Photography is becoming quite popular. The aged, nostalgic feel of the resulting photos are very desirable from a creative standpoint.

This is defined by the Flickr Group dedicated to its promotion.

The other day it was 82 degrees and I was trying to get motivated to begin dragging the boxes of Christmas decorations from the attic. I love it here in Florida, but it just doesn't feel like the holidays unless it is cold, or at least cooler.
Needless to say, the decorations are still in the attic. I decided to spend some time on-line browsing for some decorating ideas. I found some pretty cool things! Enjoy!!!

Birthday celebrations are a big deal within my circle of friends. Last night it was glass fusing at the Mud Monkey in celebration of Rhonda's birthday. I've heard of these pottery/glass places, but have never been to one. The tables were set up for us with our tools and once we received instructions we were free to select our glass piece and begin creating. We each made a small pendant and a glass tile. Each piece will be fused to complete the process and we should have our "works of art" within a week. Happy birthday Rhonda!!!
