A Change of Direction...
Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 6:15PM Sometimes a change of direction is necessary. I began working on this journal page and felt a bit frustrated at how it was progressing. I began with stencils, ink, paint, and collaged papers. I ended up adding a layer of gesso when I wasn't happy with the direction of the page and then decided to sketch a face. I like the bits of paper peeking through and am glad I wasn't afraid to cover up the layers and keep working.
Have a blessed day!

First two layers included acrylic paint, spray inks, stencils and doodles.

Next, I added more acrylic, pencils, oil pastels and then papers and gesso.

I covered the page with some white paint and began sketching this face with a Stabilo pencil.

For this layer I added more oil pastels, acrylic paint, and pencils.

I added more layers of acrylic paint, stenciling, rubber stamping, watercolor pencils and oil pastels.
Finished page is at the top of this post.

Oh good gracious! This is AWESOME! Roben---it is like you are taking your art to a whole new level, girl! I love seeing the process. Is it ok with you if I try it myself?? PLEASE think about doing a class, ok? It's like Art Journal Conversion techniques on steroids!! LOVE IT! Ok, so the Stabilo pencil? Is that a regular graphite pencil?
You rock.
