Weekend in Romania
Monday, July 2, 2012 at 7:41AM
Hello Friends! Just a quick update from Romania. Our Hawaiian Luau was a hit! The decorations we purchased from the Dollar Tree and
brought with us made the atmosphere very tropical. We had 21 guests, played games, the limbo and ate cupcakes, fruit and peanut butter crackers.
We were thrilled that some of our readers brought friends and family. On Saturday we had a free day and visited the Bran Castle also known as Dracula's Castle. The little town was very quaint and we enjoyed "seeing" the legendary castle.
We also visited the Medieval City of Brasov. It is hard to describe how beautiful it is, especially when nothing in America compares. There was no shortage of old buildings and other interesting things to take pictures of.
When I get home, I will post many more that I took with my good camera. We saw one of the narrowest roads in Europe (initially developed in the 15th century and measures between about 44 inches and 53 inches wide by 262 feet long) and the historical Black Church, the largest Gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul. Sunday evening we traveled deeper into the mountains to visit the Red Cross camp for kids. They served us a meal and we enjoyed a huge bon fire while the children sang songs. Funny, some of them were from Snow White. Thanks so very much for all the birthday well-wishes! It meant a lot being so far from home. We have hit the ground running again today with our readers. They are getting more comfortable with us and I can already see that it will be hard to say goodbye. Much love, Roben-Marie

truly heartwarming! :)
I didn't get to go into the castle when I was there last year, but we did go into the car park for some photos.
There is an amazing lake near there where we released a turtle back into the wild that had been injured, and brought back to health.
Photos of the turtle release are in this album:
