It sounded like a loud bang all in rapid succession...Bam! Bam! Bam! I see myself waking up and quickly tossing the covers aside. Then my bedroom door opens and a large cat jumps on me. I see myself grab the cat and place it on the floor. The problem is...I don't have a cat and my bedroom door is closed and locked. I stand there in the darkness of my bedroom thinking on this for a moment. Then my heart begins to beat faster and faster as I ponder whether or not I actually heard the loud bang. Did I really hear it and it woke me from my sleep or did I dream that I heard the loud bang and it woke me from my sleep, which would have in turn awakened me for real? It is 3:38AM. Needless to say I did not go back to sleep! I spent the rest of the early morning channel surfing through a host of infomercials and a news program hosted by a perky brunette who ended her show with an announcement that I should join her again next weekend. What? Does she not realize that her audience is pretty slim in the 4:00AM time slot?
One would think that after about an hour with no additional "banging" sounds and no attempt to open or breakdown my bedroom door, that the coast was clear for me to go back to sleep. Nope! I finally fell asleep around 6:00AM with telephone and remote control in hand!
